October 18, 2004: the day broadcast TV died?

http://www.tvsquad.com [TV Squad] Another alternative are companies that stream content for fee, which I would also be willing to do if the price point was right (I would pay $2 / episode for a show I liked in HDTV quality if it meant I did not have to buy the DVD or pay for premium cable or satellite services). [~Tech Angel~] This article gives a great review of Akimbo, the service that allows you to download online content to a Tivo-like box. Although the writer acknowledges that the concept is a great idea, apparently Akimbo has had hard time following through due to the networks' reluctance to provide content (some of Akimbo's content includes "Veg TV", Adven TV, the first on-demand Turkish station in the U.S.). It also doesn't help that Akimbo overcharges for its services.

Reality TV make ads the main course

[AdJab] But that's how Gary Ruskin (exec. director of Commercial Alert) described the integrated advertising on reality TV to the Arizona Republic. We think it's less stealth and more in-your-face: the American Idol kids zipping around in a Ford Focus, The Apprentice boys duking it out on a Playstation. Anyway, AZ Republic thinks that with DVR (is that all we talk about anymore?) usurping the standard television ad, reality television will take the helm.

Netflix: Did David Beat Goliath Or Is It Something Else?

ICE - Improving Customer Experiencehttp://www.egmstrategy.com/ice [ ICE - Improving Customer Experience] Netflix has a lot of things going for it, not the least of which is the size of its DVD library which eclipses that of most physical video stores.
