[Attaboy.tommydoc.net] Attaboy: Think about it: the revelation that “Deep Throat” was Mark Felt hit the media a couple of days ago. The media orgasm and blog battles over Felt’s “hero” status began almost instantaneously, and whatever really important news occurred in the world has been pushed aside for this non-story. Yes, it’s a non-story: the only people to whom this really matters is newspaper reporters who see Woodward and Bernstein as some kind of iconic journalistic pioneers and those for whom this story means some increase in their income.
[Surrealization.com] archives: Granted, I know that in the beginning there was 802.11a then 802.11b came out (which I have), and the new 802.11g standard is supposedly faster (well except for the fact that the IEEE (I think that's who it was) dropped the 802.11g standard from 50'ish mbps to 10-20 mpbs, which is an improvement over 802.11b but not compelling enough to upgrade all of my hardware (blah blah, g is compatible with b - I don't care). Anyway, I simply love the fact that behind my television is my DSL modem and wireless router (with 4 port hub and an xbox and tivo connected), upstairs is my desktop computer, in the kitchen is a laptop and anywhere I go is a tablet PC. And it's all without wires (well except the tivo and xbox).
[Gregpalast.com] Greg Palast - Blog: This is the first ever guest blog on GregPalast.com. Chuck Lewis has just released a book youve got to have, The Buying of the President 2004. In 2000 the guy with the least votes but the most money won, making the contest an auction, not an election.
[Newsosaur.blogspot.com] Reflections of a Newsosaur: A key success factor will be the ability of networks to extend the life cycle of their branded content beyond the 30 or 60 minutes of fame typically accorded a program now, says Igal. He recommends stepped-up efforts to syndicate content and to sell it via both hard media and through on-demand services on cable TV, satellite, the Internet and -- soon -- call phone. Igal also urges the aggressive development of interactive segments involving audience participation, voting, purchasing, games, webcasts and mobile phone downloads.
[Whiterose.org] A Perfectly Cromulent Blog: February 2004 Archives: Damn, here I was all prepared to tear the Grammys a new one after they awarded the Male Pop Vocal Performance to that sucking chest wound of creativity, Justin Timberlake, over Warren Zevon. I had this lengthy screed all mapped out in my head that would touch upon my previous coments about Zevon's slew of posthumous Grammy nominations - nominations that had never materialized during his actual real live career (and were given for arguably his weakest work). I even had a great bit on Zevon's win for Best Contemporary Folk Album, a high profile category whose losers were probably deemed least likely to start any shit.
