PVRLib > Cablecard 2.0 coming to you HDTV next year
[atmaspheric | endeavors] Cablecard delivers a superior picture (no cable box compression) and the 2.0 version will give you two-way control so you won’t need a box for VOD or enhanced services if your provider supports this function. It’s also good news for third party DVR makers like TIVO and will hopefully be the path to HDTV on HTPC’s like MCE.

[Pvrblog.com] PVRblog | TiVo, ReplayTV, and other PVR news and reviews: What's really interesting is that while Verizon is laying down fiber to many major cities and competing with Cable and DSL companies for internet service (Verizon offers 5, 15, and even 30Mbps connections), fiber has plenty of bandwidth left over for sending data like HDTV. While this review is brief and light on details, it looks like Verizon is using a similar Motorola DVR box as Comcast does for HD.

[Edbott.com] Ed Bott's Windows Expertise » TiVo versus MCE versus my cable company: I have an 80-Hour Series 2 Tivo on a wireless network with a broadband connection, 3 regular TVs, and an HDTV. I plan to buy another Tivo to handle conflicts and storage issues, and maybe a laptop, but am holding out for a Tivo that records HD from cable (and built-in dvd recording would be nice, although they now have Tivo-to-go).
