PVRLib > TiVo Gets Another Cable Distribution Deal
[Gadget News] TiVo is having a busy week it seems. They’ve just agreed a deal to provide DVRs and service to customers of the 1000+ companies in the National Cable Television Cooperative. The NCTC buys hardware and programming for its member operators and will now serve as a middleman between TiVo and the operators.

[Pvr.blogs.com] PVRblog | TiVo, ReplayTV, and other PVR news and reviews: Financially speaking, DirecTV's million+ customers make up a decent chunk of TiVo's total userbase and when TiVo starts losing all those customers to new non-TiVo DirecTV units, it may effect their bottom line. TiVo's stock may take a dip, but if the partnership between Comcast and TiVo results in either better integrated TiVos or the TiVo software running on Comcast set-top boxes, it could certainly replace any lost revenue from DirecTV.

[Mikeindustries.com] Mike Davidson: Major Tivo Withdrawals: It’s a high price to pay for recordable HDTV, and I will probably continue paying for it, but it sure does feel like almost every other piece of Microsoft technology I’ve ever used: just good enough to tolerate and just bad enough to piss me off at every turn. If it weren’t for the fact that I can record Anna Kournikova in high definition and transfer the footage to my Mac for viewing over and over and over again (see actual screen capture above), this thing would be on the first van back to Philadelphia, or Redmond, or whatever heathen land from whence it came.
[Pvrblog.com] TiVo to add banner ads to service when fast forwarding | PVRblog: At some point, Tivo needed to say "we're not giving any more - what we're doing is acceptable under time shifting and fair use standards" and defend that point of view in a court in order to establish and strengthen precedent that devices like Tivo can be made to serve the content consumers' needs even if the producers of the content disagree. However, what they're doing now is not standing up and giving up inch by inch.

[Engadget.com] TiVo Deathwatch - Engadget - www.engadget.com: MY dvd works very good for me, I can record anything I want in any format I want and then put it on any dvd format I wish, the only option that Tivo offers that I dont have is all the tv schedule and automaticly record your favorite shows, but thats nothing that special, you have tv guides, online and in paper and you can schedule recording whenever your not home. The fact that Tivo is willing to charge huge amount of money for such a small feature and with the new TivoToGo allow you to take only not copyrighted material with you.
